Sanpete Sanitary Landfill Co-op
Landfill Notice: Changes to Operation beginning April 1, 2025.
The Landfills in Sanpete County (White Hills and Chester) are owned and operated by the Sanpete Sanitary Landfill Co-op through an interlocal agreement between all the 13 cities and towns and Sanpete County. It is NOT a taxing entity and receives NO revenue from Sanpete County taxes. The Co-op operates solely on revenue from fees paid through cities, towns and Rocky Mountain Power for waste picked up by carriers or paid for at the time it is delivered to the landfill. These facilities are NOT operated by Sanpete County
WHITE HILLS LANDFILL- Class 1 Landfill - General purpose landfill accepts most waste including Household waste per rules and fees established and posted.
Located: 2 Miles south on Landfill road. The landfill road connects to Hwy 137 at 2.6 miles west of Mayfield, or 4.5 miles east of Gunnison.
HOURS OF OPERATION: Monday – Saturday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM (All loads must be weighed and unloaded by 4:30 pm)
Closed Sundays and Holidays (New Year's, Memorial, Independence, Pioneer, Labor, Thanksgiving, Christmas)
FEES:
White Hills Landfill Phone: 435-528-3001

- Tires (each): Cars $6, Semi-Truck $15, Tractor $37.50, Implement $50-$75 -the price is double if a tire includes a rim
- Dead Animals (commercial): $44 per ton (turkey slaughtering for example)
- Refrigerator/Freezer: no charge when accompanied by a Freon Evacuation Receipt, or $30 without Freon Evacuation Receipt. ($50 charge if full of food)
- Construction and Demolition: $32 per ton, Out of County $40 per ton
- Specialized Loads: $40 per ton Must notify Scale house operator before scheduling arrival
- Contaminated: $44 per ton
- Metal: no charge for metal if it is relatively clean of non-metal items
- Large metal items must have non metal items removed if you want the "free Metal"

CHESTER LANDFILL- Class IV Construction and Demolition Landfill No Household waste can be received. Acceptable items will be received per rules and fees established and posted.
Located: on Hwy 89, 7 miles south of Mt. Pleasant, or 5.5 miles north of Ephraim. The entrance is at the cellular phone tower.

ITEMS ACCEPTED: Non-hazardous Construction and Demolition Waste, Yard and Inert Waste, Dead Animals, Tires, Batteries, Metal.

All Vehicles must weight in and weigh out and pay fee. Driver is responsible to position his vehicle on the scales
All drivers must show proof of Sanpete Residency and address source of waste to be delivered
All waste must be separated and place in areas designated by scale house operator. If you have questions, ask the Scales operator
All loads must be secured against items falling or being blown out. If a load is not secured the scale operator may assess a fee.
Do not dump in areas outside the landfill proper or you will be prosecuted to the fullest extend of the state Code.
Approved methods of Payment: Credit or debit cards. (Mastercard or Visa) or with pre approved credit account approved by the Co-op accountant. NO CASH
